Pisa

Crossed by the river Arno, Pisa had once a powerful navy and even became a naval independent republic. It hosts treasures of Romanesque and gothic architecture, as well as an historical university where, the native Galileo Galilei taught its impressive scientific discoveries.

The most famous site in Pisa is the “Piazza dei miracoli” where the cathedral’s campanile, known as the tower of Pisa, lies crooked next to the cathedral and the baptistery. But beyond that, many museums and historical sites make Pisa an interesting destination to discover.
